The Fray turned out to be pretty good! The acoustics in the Galen Center weren’t great, but then again, it’s not like it was a place built for music concerts. The opening band was a joke, some group called Dose of Adolescence - and that’s exactly what they sounded like, though I swear I’ve heard some high school level rock bands that sounded better. :/
The Fray was definitely worth the wait, however. They opened up with a rousing performance of their hit single, “You Found Me,” then proceeded to play a set of their songs from their new album and old album. They played all the songs I knew: “How to Save a Life,” “All At Once,” “Never Say Never,” and closed out the show with “Over My Head (Cable Car).” The highlight of the concert was probably “How to Save a Life,” where the audience sang the chorus multiple times at the end - I always think it’s such a cool moment when so many people know the lyrics to a song and sing together in unison. I definitely prefer The Fray’s songs that showcase the piano - the lead singer is a really good piano player. The bassist/backup singer also has a great voice, which was showcased on “Ungodly Hour.” Besides the muffled acoustics, and the feeling that  I was at some sort of school assembly due to the venue, overall, it was a great performance!
Looking forward to watching the Breakthrough Hip Hop Showcase tonight! I always love watching people dance! I guess it stems from the fact that my ex-boyfriend of two years was really into breakdancing, so I definitely appreciate that form of dancing. I also used to dance when I was young, but ended up giving it up for sports, something I was better at. :P Too bad I don’t have extra time to join a dance class, or else I totally would! But I’ll get my fix watching my friends perform tonight. :)

CONCERT TONIGHT!

Going to see The Fray @ the Galen Center tonight with Scott. I’m excited, since the last music concert I went to was over a month ago (Jason Mraz at the Hollywood Bowl, which was excellent btw). I’ll admit that I am not a huge fan of The Fray, especially their droning and overplayed single “You Found Me,” but in general, I think they’re pretty good - especially their older single, Over My Head (Cable Car). Hearing it reminds me of high school and back when they were just an emerging band on Myspace. Funny how time flies.
