I must really be getting used to living on my own, because I’ve been home for just two weeks and it’s already starting to feel stifling living with my parents. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy being home, but little things are starting to bother me. I know I sound like a selfish, unappreciative teenager when I say that my parents can be annoying and hover too much (in fact,...

Honolulu Symphony
The Honolulu Symphony put on a free benefit concert today even though they are in the wake of a pretty bad financial crisis. However, they did it with the intention of thanking all of their supporters and also for their love of music. They performed selections from Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet and also Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, which is one of their staple pieces that they perform...

Overwhelmed by gifts…I’m so blessed. My mom definitely went all out this yr - she’s such a sweetheart. She gave me really cute penguin socks and a pajama set from Target, a Roxy sweater, DKNY sweater, and Ralph Lauren turtleneck, and a bunch of other small goodies. My dad gave me $50 worth of Zippy’s giftcards (this will definitely be useful!!) and my brother got me Sims...

Time for a fresh new slate, and no looking back. I’m keeping the people in my life that have always cared about me, and getting rid of the one that went behind my back or other peoples’ backs and lied about little things that added up and created insecurities. I guess you never learn, and that’s your problem because people close to you can’t even trust you. That’s...

Had a really long and serious talk with my brother today. He has been struggling with his academics for awhile now, and mostly it’s because he has been misguided, missing the big picture and studying the wrong subjects. He started out studying architecture, then film, then travel industry and management, and now is considering communication. I think that he has (hopefully) finally found the...

New Job!
I was recently hired as a College Blogger for Mochi Magazine. The main site is currently under construction for its new issue, so check it out in a few weeks - however, the blog is up and running, and that’s where my articles will be published. My first assignment is due before Christmas. I’m really excited about writing for this magazine because I feel like I can really connect with...

Was SO effing crowded today! The lines for the cashier at some of the stores were ridiculous. Holiday shopping = uncool. At least I had Lisa to keep me company :D

GRADES
Are dumb. Sometimes, I really curse my Asian-ness that makes me so bent on getting good grades. In the real world (after we secure a job, that is), the grades we get in college/high school/whenever are not going to matter; what’s really going to matter is how we work and if we manage to get things done. I keep telling myself this around the point where grades come out, and yet I still get...

Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga
So, some people are complaining that Taylor Swift got more grammy nominations than Lady Gaga. Personally, I like both of them. They are both very talented songwriters with a unique voice and sound. However, I can understand why Taylor Swift would have more nominations, even though Lady Gaga is more talented vocally (and in some regards, has more talented songwriting abilities). That’s...

Checkmark
Next to fall semester of sophomore year. One semester away from being halfway done with college (wtf?!). Just e-mailed my iffy Korean lit essay to my professor, but whatever, I am DONE! I have an A in Chinese and accounting (!!!) which makes me happy. Don’t know yet about marketing and Korean lit, but hopefully they’re both A-s (wishful thinking). Going Christmas shopping on Friday...
